THE WORK

Mind Over Matter is a proposed four-part limited docuseries about the unraveling of an enigmatic Cold War research scientist entangled in madcap escapades with psychedelics, psychic espionage, and otherworldly entities. I secured a production agreement with Film 45 as co-producer for a four-part docuseries in 2018. I created a television pitch package, including writing the pitch deck and editing a teaser.

THE STORY

Travel back in time to the Cold War mania of clandestine operations that sanctioned psychedelics, parapsychology, and psychic spying, inadvertently ushering in the new age hippie movement.

Meet the charming, intellectual, and definitely eccentric Dr. Andrija Puharich. Military and intelligence agents, along with a cadre of wealthy elite, woo him away from conventional medicine financing instead his unorthodox research work. Globe-trotting the world, he becomes a kind of anthropologist of shamans, a secret agent of psychics, and a controversial inventor of neurological devices that you might find in a Black Mirror episode. He cavorts with the likes of Aldous Huxley and Timothy Leary, communes across continents with a plethora of beautiful women, until his questionable experiments with young psychics gets him into a bit of trouble.

Was he a disinformation agent working an elaborate hoax to outwit enemies of the state? Was it all just a ruse to hoodwink his investors? Perhaps he simply fell prey to his own delusions? Or possibly, he really did stumble upon a gateway into another dimension in a perplexing universe of infinite unknowables?
